Snowmobile Backcountry Expeditions
Right now, our main focus on freeride trips is in Cajón del Maipo. Once you see it you’ll know why. We are based in Lodge Lo Valdes, a small mining hostal, the furthest one up the road, that turns real quiet in the winter and the smell of fresh baked bread fills the rooms. From here we access the slopes of San José volcano.
We are offering the following tours for the snowmobiler or snowboader (skier).
Day Tour
US$ 360 will get the guide on his sled to show you the safe way around.

About the location:
The Hotel, nestled between high mountains and forests alongside the roaring rapids of the Maipo River, located in the Andes Mountains in Cajón del Maipo (Maipo Canyon) only 60 kilometers southeast of Santiago Chile. Our proximity to Santiago offers a welcome change for business travelers and tourists who are looking for a quick escape while visiting the metropolitan area, and the perfect stopover for those who wish to extend their stay before or after visiting other areas of Chile.
The riding takes place on the slopes and surrounding mountains of the San José Volcano. First visible from the village of San Gabriel, it surprises the spectator from the end of the valley with its grandious white and rocky mass, prefigurating as back scenery and natural barrier in the final kilometers of the road, dominating with it´s name and figure the valley of the Volcán River. This in spite of having an even higher neighbor - Cerro Marmolejo - fact that gives evidence of its impressive aspect.
Snowmobiling in these areas is amazing. Starting at an elevation of 6500 ft. you can climb all the way up to 15000 ft. These should give you an idea of how big the terrain surrounding you is. Now consider you can do this in a couple different valleys, from the same starting point. Oh, you won’t be even close to the top of the mountains you see. What we are trying to tell you is, there is no limits here.
The snow here is better than anywhere in Chile or Argentina. We’ve looked around too much to get here, at first it was a theory we had, while riding the ski resorts. Then it proved us right, so we don’t need to say anything more about this.
